Reading notes - week 25

Just some notes this week…

I Chronicles 5 - the tribe of Gad - vs. 20 - they cried out to God in the battle and He was entreated for them because they trusted in Him. What a great truth for life ! Lord, help me to trust You so that I cry out to you when I am in a battle! Amen!!

Psalm 78 - this was a long one! Lots of good stuff in here. Vs 5- 8 exhort us to teach our children the truths of God - each generation to faithfully pass the baton of faith - so that our children (and their children and their children and their children…) will put their confidence in God. Link that back to the principle in I Chronicles 5! Not only are we going to face battles but so will our children. SO will every generation! Therefore, we must be faithful to impress upon each generation the faithfulness of God!

But look through this chapter - it records the faithLESSness of God’s people, a stubborn and rebellious people. How many descriptions of their rebellion do you find there? Here are the ones I see…

did not prepare their hearts spirits not faithful refused to walk in obedience forgot His deeds put God to the test by asking for different food than He supplied did not trust Him even in the midst of HIs wondrous works did not respond in repentance when disciplined deceived, lied, rebelled, pained God! Certainly the phrase “dumb sheep” comes to mind! BUT LOOK AT V.72 !! Yet God shepherded them!
