Reading notes - week 15

Deuteronomy 11-24 I have lots of questions from this week’s reading. Please chime in…

11:7-9 - because “your own eyes have seen all the great work of the Lord”…therefore “keep every command”…so that “you may prolong your days in the land”. Notice how God shows us Himself so that we will trust Him..obey Him…so that He can bless us! Amazing!

11:16 - deceit leads us to disobedience…which causes God to withhold blessings…next time it doesn’t rain, instead of praying for God to send rain, perhaps we should first pray that He would show us our disobedience and deceit…

11:18=21 - I just LOVE these verses. That’s all :)

12:13,14 - notice the repetition in several chapters of the phrase “in the place which the Lord chooses” regarding where to bring offering - what your thoughts on this?

12: 30 - helps us understand why God annihilated the nations Israel was to conquer

14:21 - not eat anything that dies of itself…OK..but it’s ok to feed it to a foreigner??? And not boiling a kid in its mother’s milk. I have heard some interpretations of this - not to mix meat and dairy - what are your thoughts?

14:23 - eating the tithe of the crops and flock…on to v. 26 - what a fabulous concept! Talk about celebrating BIG!

Chapter 15 - the Sabbatic year - WOW. Wonder how our world would change if we observed this…

The verses on the bondservant - I did a whole post about this a few years ago - I’ll not repeat here except to ask you why you think Paul refers to himself as a bondservant

Chapter 16 - the feasts of Pasover, weeks, and booths - if you didn’t see the series on the Feasts from last year, I urge you to check it out. We had a blast on this topic!

18:8 - I don’t get this about the Levites selling their fathers’ estates - I thought they didn’t inherit land - you think it’s stuff other than land???

21:10-14 - I.Don’t.Get.It. Somebody help?

23:3 - Ditto. I don’t get it. Ruth was a Moabite - was she past the 10th generation??

24:19-21 - margin is a double sided blessing - we get blessed by not stressing ourselves to maximize every tiny bit of our resources…and then we have some leftover to bless others! “Margin” is a Biblical concept!
