I am re-posting a series on the Holidays of the Old Testament. I will also be live on FB with some short teaching times on this topic. I hope you’ll join me !
“The Holidays” are fast approaching. With rapid pace, the days of feasting and gift-giving and new beginnings will be upon us.
This brings a myriad of varied feelings. Certainly excitement. And anticipation, especially if you’re lucky enough to have young children in your life.
But there may also be a sort of heaviness that blankets your soul as you focus on the upcoming holidays. Might be lingering grief because of an empty place at the table this year. Or a move away from the beloved and familiar. Perhaps a crisis has altered the way you view the holiday season, and if the truth be known, you’d just as soon skip the next few weeks altogether.
It might even be that you just feel overwhelmed with all you feel is expected of you during this season and you just don’t feel up to the task. Too much planning and preparing and work to be done. You feel tired before it even begins.
I get those feelings. And I want to be the voice in your ear that is telling you “It’s OK. It’s really OK to have those feelings. And maybe what I have to share over the next few weeks will help .”
I don’t have a magic bullet that will erase all the pain or soothe ruffled family feathers or even plan your meals and wrap your gifts. But I do have some insight that might refocus all our attention and help us view the HOLY-days in some fresh and replenishing ways.
